Obituary for Jearl Sherman Shavor

Funeral Services for Jearl Shavor, 89, of Brownsboro are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Leagueville Baptist Church in Leagueville, Texas with Rev. James Craver officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 P.M., in Longview, Texas at Grace Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Shavor went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 24, 2015 in Tyler, Texas.
Jearl Sherman Shavor was born May 14, 1926 in Henderson County, Texas the son of William James Shavor and Dannie Edwards Shavor. He was a member of the Leagueville Baptist Church and devoted much of his time serving his church. He attended Sunday school, served as an usher and loved handing out scripture candies to the people of the church. He was also very involved in the building committee and in the additions that took place at Leagueville. He worked for his father in the logging, saw mill and construction business. His love serving extended past the church as he loved to give vegetables to people in need that he had grown in his garden. He was known to have the largest and best lemons in the area. Jearl was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother and will be greatly missed by all those he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Jean; one son David Leonard.
He is survived by his children, son and daughter in law; Lewis and Theresa Leonard of Santa Fe, Texas, daughter and son in law; LeaAnn and George Pitones of Grand Prairie, Texas, son and daughter in law Dennis and DeDe Shavor of Henderson, Nevada; one brother Cleburn Shavor and wife Leta Faye of Murchison; three sisters, Amanda Parker of Plano, Coques Tidwell of Ben Wheeler, Corene Rhodes of Athens; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 P.M., Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.
