Obituary for Gloria Daves (Cruz)

Athens – Funeral services for Gloria Daves, 83, of Larue are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Curry officiating. Interment will follow at Alligator Cemetery.

Mrs. Daves passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Tyler, Texas.

Gloria Cruz Daves was born May 23, 1933 in Waco, Texas the daughter of Geronimo Cruz and Teal Cruz. Gloria was a member of the Red Hat Society, attended Lake Athens Baptist Church and was a devoted homemaker who loved her family. She also loved raising animals on their farm including miniature horses, cattle and llamas. She spent her spare time traveling with her husband; visiting nearly every National Park in the U.S. in their motor home and then taking international journeys all over Mexico and numerous other countries. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years Bud Daves of Larue; four children, Gloria Quinonez of Eustace, Jimmy Flores of Athens, Chris Daves of Larue, Wendy Himes and husband Timothy of Larue; brother Gilbert Cruz of Sarasota, Florida; sister Ellie Cruz of San Bernardino, California and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
