Obituary for Lonnie Wayne Fender

A Celebration of the Life of Lonnie Fender, 55, of Athens will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Lonnie went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 20, 2018 in Tyler, Texas.

Lonnie was born May 20, 1963, in Grand Saline, Texas. The son of Eddie and Gearl Dean Fender. He was the owner of LaKat Trucking, LLC in Athens, Tx. He loved to go camping, old westerns, going to the boats. His best times where surrounded by his family and friends. He was known as a family man that loved his wife, children and especially his grandbabies. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Once you met Lonnie, it was an instant, lifelong friendship, he was the most kind hearted, compassionate man you would ever meet.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ricky Fender.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathy Henry Fender; three children, Mandy Brittain and Husband, Josh of Monahans, Lee Fender, of Athens, Angel Woodard and Husband Matt of Athens; sisters, Lavon and Mitch Burton of Tyler, Sharron and Keith Florence of Palestine, Natalie Wymore of Athens, Becky Hankins of Athens, Brothers Ed Fender of McKinney, and Bubba and Shelly Henry of Cross Roads. 6 Grand Children who thought he hung the moon. Hunter, Brayden and Rylan Brittain, Hannah Fender, and Oakley and Laramie Woodard. Numerous nieces and nephews he loved like his own.
