Obituary for Mary Joretta Sims

Graveside services for “Jo” Sims, 82, of Cayuga, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Judson Cemetery near Cayuga.

Mrs. Sims went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2015 in Cayuga.

Mary Joretta Thomas Sims was born June 30, 1932 in in Cayuga, Texas the daughter of Hubert Melvin Thomas and Hattie Tom Daniel Thomas. While living in Dallas she was a dedicated member, Sunday school teacher and choir member at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church. Her life revolved around church activities and when they moved back to the home place she attended Judson Baptist Church in Cayuga. She was an ADA licensed & registered dietician, a great cook and homemaker. She loved her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all she knew and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and one sister.

Jo is survived by her loving husband of sixty one years, Gilbert Lee Sims; two daughters, Cynthia Rene’ Sims Bjoraker and husband Robert of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Vickie Leigh Sims White of Cayuga; three grandchildren, Brittany Skye Bjoraker Saller and husband Jeremy, Shannon Michelle Bjoraker, Jonathan David White and wife Andrea and two great grandchildren, Emaleigh Beth White and Trinton David White.

Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
