Athens – Funeral services for Jenell Hood, 83, of Forney, formerly of Murchison, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Russell Rogers and Bro. William Compton officiating. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery near Edom.

Ms. Hood went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 21, 2015 in Forney.

Virginia Jenell Gentry Hood was born January 29, 1932 in Tyler, Texas the daughter of Jesse Eugene Gentry and Laler Mae Hendley Gentry. She was a member of the Hope Community Church in Murchison and a dedicated homemaker. Nana loved to draw but her true enjoyment came from sewing and cooking for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond Hood; her parents; three brothers, James Earl Gentry, Riley Gentry, Charles Gentry and three sisters, Sarah Booth, Mildred Bass and Dorothy Blaylock.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Begando of Bradenton, Florida, Sarah Whitehead and husband S.L. of Walton, Texas, James Craft of Murchison, Dorothy Gaye Ray and husband Gerald of Arlington, Amy Jones and husband Duane of Forney; sister Katherine Branscum of Tyler; brother Wilbert Gentry and wife Marilyn of Winona, Texas; ten grandchildren, Rhonda Slater, Sally Rice, Casey Riney, Dalton Lanphier, Dillon Lanphier, Morgan Jameyfield, Jenell Craft, Lisa Farmer, Staci Jones, Brandy Ball and numerous great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Booth, Dillon Lanphier, Daniel Wilcox, Duane Jones, Casey Riney, Jesse Gentry, Brad Jones and S.L. Whitehead.

Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
