Athens –Funeral Services for Billy Bruce Chaney of Tyler are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor David Dykes officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Chaney passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 in Tyler, Texas.

Billy Bruce Chaney was born February 22, 1936 the son of Titus Chaney and Erma Anders Chaney. He moved to Athens at an early age and graduated from Athens High School in 1955. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and served in Korea, Biloxi, Mississippi, San Antonio, Texas and Parks AFB in California. Billy Bruce retired in 1999 after working for three major insurance companies in the loss prevention field for over 39 years and was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and was a professional safety source for the Texas Workers Compensation Commission. He moved back to Martins Mill, Texas after retirement. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Olgia Lou Dickerson, one brother Titus A. Chaney, daughter Sherry Kaye Chaney and son Mark Lynn Chaney.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty six years Nellie Chaney of Tyler; two children, Cara Kaye Chaney Huffine and husband Matt of Tyler, Nathan Chaney of Flower Mound and two grandchildren, Conrad Scott Chaney and Brayden Matthew Huffine.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 A.M., Monday, December 28, 2015 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matt Huffine, Milburn Chaney, J.W. Chaney, R.C. Chaney, Rob McCullough and Melvis Benton

Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
