Funeral services for Carrie Hortense Bell, 90, of Dallas, are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Rev. Diane Presley officiating. Interment will follow at Becks Chapel Cemetery near Cross Roads.

Ms. Bell went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 11, 2016 in Dallas.

Carrie Hortense Bell was born August 10, 1925 in Henderson County, Texas the daughter of Lespie J. Bell and Ruby Riddlesperger Bell. She was a devout member of the Ridgewood Park Methodist Church in Dallas. She dedicated her free time to volunteer work; including Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, Salvation Army, East Texas Food Bank and the Disabled Veterans. She was also a member of the Friendship Club and the CC Young Community of Dallas. Hortense loved cooking, gardening and arts and crafts such as sewing, crocheting and embroidery. She was an avid reader who loved her family and will be missed by all she knew and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Foster Bell.

Carrie Hortense is survived by her sister Tommie Young of Richardson; nephew Robert Young of Richardson; niece Debra Yonley and David Daly of Richardson; great niece Christin Law and husband William of McKinney; two great-great nieces, Trinity and Brooklyn Law and a host of loving friends.

Visitation will be held from 12-1:00 P.M., Friday, January 15, 2016 Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
